Exciting New STEM Center Opens at Karnes City Elementary
 
Karnes City, TX – August 27, 2024 – The Ripken Foundation has unveiled a state-of-the-art STEM center at Karnes City Elementary, marking a significant milestone in advancing educational opportunities for our young learners. This newly established center, created by the Ripken Foundation, promises to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among students, preparing them for future academic and career successes.
 
Generous support from industry leaders made this project possible. The STEM center was funded through the collaborative efforts of BP Energy, ConocoPhillips, Devon, Marathon Oil, Repsol, Gulftex Energy, and Verdun Oil Company. Their commitment to education and community development has brought this visionary project to life.
The grand opening was attended by a distinguished group of community leaders and representatives. Among them were executives from the sponsoring companies, KCISD Superintendent Katherine Kuenstler, KCE Principal Jennifer Foster, KCE Assistant Principal Mackenzie Allen, School Board President Debbie Witte, Secretary Melissa Padron, and Trustee Melanie Johnson. Their presence underscored the collective enthusiasm and support for this impactful initiative.
 
The new STEM center is designed to foster an engaging and interactive learning environment, equipped with cutting-edge technology and resources to enhance students' STEM education. This facility will serve as a hub for innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning, aligning with our district’s commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences.
 
Superintendent Katherine Kuenstler expressed her excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome this incredible resource to our school. It represents a tremendous opportunity for our students to explore STEM fields and develop skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.”
